Gunung Mulu National Park is UNESCO World Heritage site covering 528 km² protected area in northern Sarawak, accessible only by air (Mulu Airport) or river (longboat from Miri). Contains the world’s largest cave chamber, longest cave passages in Southeast Asia, and 4,000+ species.

Character: Remote, pristine, scientific, adventurous, spiritual.

  • Deer Cave — World’s largest cave passage; 3 million bats exit at dusk
  • Sarawak Chamber — World’s largest cave chamber (600m x 415m x 80m)
  • Clearwater Cave — 220km of passages; underground river
  • Pinnacles — 45m limestone spikes on Mount Api (challenging 3-day trek)
  • Canopy Walkway — 480m elevated walkway through primary rainforest

Best For: Adventure travelers, cavers, biologists, photographers, hardcore nature lovers.

Recommended Stay: 3–5 days.

Transportation: MASwings flight from Miri (30 min) or Kuching (1.5 hrs); longboat from Miri (12+ hours).
